Fascinated by San Francisco's endless drama—a rollercoaster of passion and politics, wealth and blight, fiscal impropriety, impossible-to-afford rents, and officials who promise improvements but deliver potholes? You're not alone. In a city so stunning it hurts, Really, San Francisco? is your no-holds-barred escape hatch to sanity.
Hosted by Richie Greenberg (@greenbergnation) and Erica Sandberg (@ericajsandberg)—two local gadflies who love the city fiercely and know it intimately —this podcast turns heated debates into eye-opening takedowns of the latest scandals, policy flops, and wild what-ifs.
Richie, the firebrand activist and former mayoral candidate who spearheaded the Chesa Boudin recall and the "BREEXIT" push against Mayor Breed, brings unfiltered outrage (think: Fox News rants meet street-level grit) to the show.
Erica, the veteran journalist behind KRON-4's Making It in San Francisco, host of The San Francisco Beat, and Voice of San Francisco contributor, delivers insights gleaned from on-the-ground reporting. From the fentanyl crisis to business and culture, she covers it all.
They don't always agree. Richie's all-in conservative crusader vibe can clash with Erica's community-focused nonpartisanship—and that's the spark that makes every episode crackle. One minute you're nodding along to their deep dive on budget black holes and unethical nonprofits; the next, you're laughing at their conflicting opinions on causes and cures.
Whether you're a newbie wondering why you have to dodge downtown drug dealers, a longtime resident hoping Baghdad by the Bay will return to glory, or just watching America's most polarizing city from afar, Really, San Francisco? arms you with the facts, the feuds, and the fixes you won't get from other media outlets.
It's not just talk. It's Richie and Erica's call for those in charge to stop the bleeding and start rebuilding.

ERICA SANDBERG has called San Francisco home for nearly her entire life—and her devotion to the city shapes every story she tells. A journalist and broadcaster, she began writing the City Brights column for the San Francisco Chronicle's SFGate before hosting Making It in San Francisco on KRON-4, where she explored how residents navigate and contribute to city life across all income levels. In addition to cohosting the Really San Francisco podcast, Erica is a correspondent for The Voice of San Francisco and a contributor to such outlets as City Journal, National Review, U.S. News & World Report, and the New York Post. Her reporting focuses on urban policy, public safety, homelessness, and the challenges facing San Francisco. She also anchors The San Francisco Beat, a television series featuring the city's most influential voices on the issues that matter most. Erica's journalism is informed by deep community engagement. She has served on the SFPD Community Advisory Board on Homelessness, SF SAFE, the Salvation Army's Harbor Light, the Neighborhood Emergency Response Team, and the Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team. She currently serves on the SFPD Chief's Community Police Advisory Forum, bringing street-level insight to her coverage of crime, disorder, and municipal governance. Her reporting consistently examines how policy decisions affect everyday San Franciscans—from the impact of criminal justice reforms to the city's response to the fentanyl crisis. Her goal is to always tell the truth. And if that means stepping on political toes, she suggests wearing better shoes.

RICHIE GREENBERG is a San Francisco political commentator, columnist, activist and was the Republican candidate for mayor in 2018. With over a decade of extensive experience in the political realm, Greenberg has evolved into a relentless watchdog, exposing progressive failures in crime, corruption, and policy. His political commentary, amplified across U.S. and international platforms, positions him as a unique force in holding power to account - and galvanizing public discourse. He spearheaded the 2021/2022 recall of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin for soft-on-crime policies. He orchestrated the 2024 "BREEXIT" campaign that derailed Mayor London Breed’s re-election, and kicked off the 2025 landslide ouster of Supervisor Joel Engardio. His media outreach is equally formidable: As a frequent guest on Fox News, Newsmax, local Bay Area TV and radio talks shows, Greenberg dissects local and national figures. Greenberg’s voice resonates globally: on India's Republic TV’s prime-time debates hosted by Arnab Goswami, he tackled Trump’s tariffs, a potential Trump-Putin meeting, and urban crime, clashing with renown journalists like David Cay Johnston. On India's WION network, he analyzed the Trump administration’s onset and the Trump-Harris debate. Greenberg provided overnight coverage for Fox News of the Democratic National Convention (August, 2024), cementing his role as a global commentator.
